From before the console was officially revealed, fans have been speculating about a mysterious new “C” button for the Switch 2, which was seen on the console’s right Joy-con since the hardware leaks of last year.
Despite being missing from the initial trailer, the “C” button is present on a picture of the console seen in the Nintendo Today app, as seen in the featured image. Initially, it was rumored that this button will allow players to access a “hub world” connecting players all across the globe. A new rumor however, claims it has another, much more surprising purpose.
This rumor comes via a leaker going by extras1s, who is well known for sharing accurate leaks relating to XBox Game Pass. extras1s claims that the “C” button acts as a shortcut to allow the Switch 2 to link to the Switch 1, transforming the older model into a “gamepad-like device” for the Switch 2.
If accurate, this feature may possibly allow players to play Wii U, DS, and 3DS games on the Switch 2, if it is something that Nintendo would allow. The Switch’s retro library is currently limited to consoles with only 1 screen, so this might provide a possible workaround.
As with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take this with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
