Since the success of the Nintendo Switch, many other gaming giants have been attempting to jump back on the handheld console bandwagon, including Valve with the Steam Deck and Microsoft with the ROG Xbox Ally.
According to some new rumors, Sony is planning to throw their hat into the ring with Playstation 6. It comes from a video posted by Moore’s Law Is Dead, who has leaked accurate info about Sony’s Playstation plans in the past. The video mostly discusses technical specs and speculation, claiming that the new console will be a true handheld hybrid similar to the Switch.
Last year Bloomberg published their own report claiming that Sony was working on a new handheld gaming console, although their sources claiming it was far from launch and still open to cancellation. If these new rumors are true, we could be entering an age of handheld hybrids as the dominant format of gaming consoles, should all three major console makers end up competing in that space.
As with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take these claims with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
