Earlier this year, The Pokemon Company announced Pokemon Pokopia, a cozy life-sim game starring a Ditto that transforms into a human.
Now, a prototype version of this game has allegedly leaked online. Originally highlighted by @RyDawgE_ , this playable prototype originates from the infamous Game Freak Tera Leak, which saw information about past and present Pokemon projects being leaked online. Unlike the version of Pokopia revealed to the public, this prototype has a more retro look and feel, and uses 2D sprites to represent the Pokemon.
This prototype is reportedly dated back to 2019, and it is speculated that Game Freak was testing and planning to make a Pokemon life sim game themselves before the project was eventually handed over to Koei Tecmo, who are listed as one of the developers on Pokopia‘s official website.
