Tencent, which just released the Nintendo Switch in China, is planning to release their first physical game for the system in early 2020.
Today we may have found the reason why that’s the case. According to Twitter user Sundejun who claims they spoke to a person that worked on the Switch at Tencent, the reason why physical games had to be released next year is because the bitter agent for the Game Cards, Denatonium Benzoate, are still pending approval from the authorities in China.
This sounds like a pretty valid reason explaining the delay, as the first game for the Tencent Switch, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, is already out in digital form, so there’s nothing else stopping it coming out physically except for things concerning the physical product.
