Upon its launch last year, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin became somewhat of a runaway hit for developers Edelweiss – earning praise for its uniquely comprehensive rice-growing gameplay paired with platforming action. While the prospect of a follow-up is still far away, however, it looks like its developers are already keen on creating more Sakuna action eventually!
Speaking in a Famitsu interview, Edelweiss team members Koichi and Nal shared about the future of the new IP. In particular, the two shared that the studio was interested in giving Sakuna a second game, as opposed to just DLC for the first game:
“There aren’t any plans for downloadable content, but we’d like to do a sequel if the opportunity arises.” (Koichi)
“While we don’t have any concrete plans for a sequel, I have nothing but gratitude for the fans. When the timing is right, I hope we can live up to their expectations.”
