Sakurai: I Have Aged, I Don’t Know How Many More Years I Can Work

Masahiro Sakurai, director of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, has published his weekly column in the latest issue of the Weekly Famitsu.

In his latest column, Sakurai said the children who played the first Super Smash Bros. game are now old enough to play with their children. He notes that he himself has been directing games for about 30 years since the first Kirby title.

Looking back and now, Sakurai says he has more wrinkles and his eyes have become “a little worse”. Although he’s still able to work, Sakurai wonders how many years and games he could still make.

Sakurai then mentioned he likes to stay busy, and that’s the reason why he enjoyed making Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It has been 17 years since he started writing for the Famitsu column.
