RUMOR: Switch 2’s LCD Screen May Be Receiving A Revamp
The Switch 2 recently turned a year old, and many are wondering if or when a newer model for it might be released, in the same vein as the Switch Lite or the Switch OLED.
According to Nintendo Patents Watch, a new Switch 2 LCD screen has popped up on Chinese reseller sites. This newer screen appears to have a different manufacturer from the original Switch 2 screen, and has some differences in the exposed circuit, connector, and cables. Nintendo Patents Watch speculates that this is a significant update over the original screen, although exactly how much of a quality improvement it is is uncertain.
A new model of Switch 2 LCD panel, most likely by Sharp, has surfaced on a Chinese resale site (img 1). Compared with the launch model from Innolux (img 2), the exposed circuit, connector, and cables are significantly different (imgs 3-4), indicating an updated design—not merely a minor revision.1/

If the listing is legitimate, then it is possible that Nintendo may phase out models with the original LCD display in favor of this new design, although we will likely not find out for certain until these newer displays start circulating in the market. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
