Last month, Nintendo confirmed that the Sanrio Amiibo cards would be coming to the US exclusively to Target stores starting March 26th.
Today, Nintendo has now confirmed that these Amiibo cards will be able to unlock special Sanrio crossover content in Animal Crossing: New Horizons such as Sanrio-themed items and villagers. Previously, the game only had limited support for the Sanrio Amiibo cards, and they could not be used to unlock any of these items or characters from previous games.
You can check out a trailer covering all the additions below:
As seen in the trailer, the Sanrio X Animal Crossing content will be available in New Horizons after an in-game update on March 18th. As such, players who already own these cards from previous runs should be able to unlock the content once that date has arrived.
