A few weeks ago, Square Enix trademarked Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy in the European Union.
The same thing has happened in the United States – both Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy have been registered with the trademark office.
Although the purpose for the trademarks are currently unknown at this time, it’s very likely to protect Square Enix’s intellectual property.
