SEGA has filed a new trademark for “Sonic Frontiers” in Japan.
The trademark was highlighted by Chizai-Watch and has been filed in English as well as in Japanese. Both trademarks cover electronic entertainment such as video games, as well as other related products and services.
Although not officially announced, it is believed that “Sonic Frontiers” could be the title of the as of yet unnamed new Sonic game planned for release in 2022. At the time, an anonymous leak claimed that the game’s planned title was “Sonic Rangers”, and that it would have a more open world style of gameplay similar to Breath Of the Wild.
At the time of this writing however, SEGA has yet to officially reveal any new information about the new Sonic game that could confirm or refute these claims. We will be sure to report back with more details as they come.
