SEGA, Level Infinite, And Other Publishers Reportedly Skipping E3 2023

Following the reveal that Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft would be skipping E3 2023, reports have surfaced of even more companies that will not be attending the formerly major gaming conference.

The latest companies to confirm their non-attendance are SEGA and Tencent subsidiary Level Infinite. Their statements were shared with news publication IGN, of which SEGA’s can be found below:

SEGA: “After careful consideration, we have decided not to participate in E3 2023 as an exhibitor. We look forward to sharing more information on announced and unannounced projects in the future.”

Aside from SEGA and Level Infinite, IGN also attempted to reach out to many other publishers to ask about their E3 attendance status. Of the others that responded, Bandai Namco declined to provide an update, although they stated they would attend Geoff Keighley’s Play Days event alongside Level Infinite, while Devolver Digital said they would only be hosting their usual Devolver Direct show in June.

Other publishers IGN attempted to reach out to include Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Embracer Group, Epic Games, Square Enix, Take-Two, and Warner Bros. Games. Although they did not manage to get official statements out of them before publishing their article, IGN asserts that there are more publishers who are planning to skip the event, albeit they have yet to make official announcements.

This report likely marks the beginning of the end for E3 as gaming’s most hyped up event of the year, with more and more publishers choosing to forgo an appearance at the event. Stay tuned for more details as they come.
