Earlier today, the dev team for Slay The Spire confirmed that the game is still coming to Switch, and that the official announcement should come some time in April.
Originally seeing its full release on Steam in January 2019, Slay The Spire is a deckbuilding fantasy rogue-like created by Mega Crit Games. Players choose one of three characters to ascend the titular spire, facing all manner of strange events and sinister monsters in their quest to destroy its heart. Combat is based around assembling a unique deck of cards which determine what skills and techniques the characters can use in battle, creating an interesting fusion of card game and rogue-like RPGs.
According to a post on reddit from one of the developers, the team at Mega Crit has been working with several different parties to release the game on consoles. This has made communication difficult, and a set release date hard to pin down. Currently, the best estimate is that the dates should be finalized by April, though its not 100% confirmed. We at Nintendosoup keep an eye out for more information as it comes.
Due to some delays, the best estimate from our publisher is that we will have official announced dates by late April. However, this is an estimate and not 100%…Some of the quirks of our engine that had caused most of the delays have been solved and things like this should not be a problem going forward.
