The Star Fox Franchise may have had a rough time after the lacklustre sales of Star Fox Zero but things seem to be looking up for them after being the Star for the upcoming SNES Classic.
Star Fox 2 will finally be released after a “life-time” 22 year wait on the SNES Classic. However, Nintendo does not intend to make things straight forward. From their Press Release:
Even for super fans who have played all of these games multiple times, the inclusion of the never-before-released Star Fox 2 game will offer them something entirely new to enjoy – if they can unlock it by proving their skills in the original Star Fox game. (Well, they only have to complete the first level – we didn’t want to make it too hard!)
That’s one way to make players revisit the first Star Fox game. Thankfully it is only the first level, Star Fox can be a little hard without joysticks.
SNES Classic will launch on 29 September 2017. North America and Europe/Japan hardware design will differ.
