Sonic Mania Plus is heading to stores this July but what’s next for everyone’s favourite blue hedgehog after that? Don’t count on the guys at Sonic Team to know what’s next either.
Speaking to Famitsu, Sonic series producer, Takashi Iizuka, said that he had not thought beyond Sonic Mania Plus.
Famitsu: When you hear that the motivation for development is high enough, I expect a sequel.
Iizuka: The next project is called Sonic Mania ‘ (Dash).(Laughs) That was a joke, the project “Sonic Mania” feels complete issuing the packaged version “Plus”. I have not thought about what to do with the series in the future currently.
Hopefully, they’ll start thinking so us fans can anticipate the next great Sonic game.
