In celebration of the start of the Reiwa Era in Japan, Nintendo has published a new trailer for Super Mario Maker 2.
As shared via Instagram, the trailer showcases Mario running through three different level segments created in Mario Maker 2 representing the past three eras of Japan. Classic Mario represents Showa, Mario World represents Heisei, and finally 3D world represents Reiwa.
Since the video focuses entirely on the “gameplay” stage and never shows the “creation” stage of Mario Maker, the trailer could imply that cycling through different Mario game tilesets in a single level could be a feature appearing in Mario Maker 2. We will bring more news on if this is true as it comes.
