Earlier this week, Nintendo confirmed that the Geno Mii costume would be making a return to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC add-on. While it’s a sad day for Geno fans still hoping to see the character become a proper fighter, they also received somewhat of a consolation prize from an unlikely source over the weekend!
Kazuyuki Kurashima, who worked on character designs for Super Mario RPG, has shared some previously-unseen concept that showcases Geno’s prototype designs during development of the SNES game. As you can see below, they’re certainly more prickly than the puppet appearance that Geno eventually ended up with!
