Pocketpair Reveals How Much Nintendo And The Pokemon Company Are Suing Them For In Palworld Lawsuit

Earlier this year, Nintendo filed a lawsuit against Palworld creator Pocketpair, alleging that their game had violated several of Nintendo’s patents.

We now have an update regarding the lawsuit courtesy of Pocketpair. In a statement posted on their website, Pocketpair revealed the three specific patents that Nintendo is suing them over, as well as how much they and The Pokemon Company are seeking in damages. Both Nintendo and The Pokemon Company are asking for 5 million yen each, plus late payment damages.

1: Details of the Lawsuit
The Plaintiffs claim that “Palworld,” released by us on January 19, 2024, infringes upon the following three patents held by the Plaintiffs, and are seeking an injunction against the game and compensation for a portion of the damages incurred between the date of registration of the patents and the date of filing of this lawsuit.

2: Target Patents
Patent No. 7545191
[Patent application date: July 30, 2024]
[Patent registration date: August 27, 2024]

Patent No. 7493117
[Patent application date: February 26, 2024]
[Patent registration date: May 22, 2024]

Patent No. 7528390

The patents laid out are the same patents previously identified by analysts, which all relate to mechanics for catching and riding Pokemon. The same analyst also determined that Pocketpair’s chances of winning the lawsuit were slim.
