A few hours ago, pre-orders went live in the US for the Switch (OLED Model), the new higher end model of Switch that Nintendo revealed a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, it seems this new model has become the target of scalpers hoping to take advantage of demand to make a profit. Pre-orders for the OLED Model have reportedly sold out quickly at retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop, and have been followed up by numerous ebay listings from scalpers marking it up to exhorbitant prices:
The problem of scalpers is a persistent issue that affects both console releases and limited edition game releases for the Switch and other platforms. One can only hope that Nintendo has anticipated this issue based on past experience, and would have taken steps to ensure enough supply moving forward.
