Today finally marks the end of an era for digital purchases on Nintendo systems.
As at the time of writing, the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShop are now officially closed for good. To reflect this, Nintendo has updated both digital storefronts for 3DS and Wii U with the following messages:
It is no longer possible to make purchases in Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo 3DS family of system. It is also no longer possible to download free content, including game demos.
It is no longer possible to make purchases in Nintendo eShop for the Wii U system. It is also no longer possible to download free content, including game demos.
While no new digital purchases can be made from now on, folks will still be able to re-download their previous digital purchases on either system. If you have any previous digital games that you wish to revisit, now would probably be a great time to do so.
