Last week, Nintendo released an update for the Switch 2, allowing it to support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) in docked mode.
For those who may not be aware, VRR technology ensures that a connected display outputs video that matches the refresh rate of the game being played. This helps to reduce issues like stuttering or screen tearing, overall making for a smoother gameplay experience. While the Switch 2 could already use VRR in handheld mode, the addition of docked mode support was exciting for players with VRR compatible TVs, even though docked mode VRR is only supported by Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour at the time of this writing.
Now, the second game to support this feature has seemingly been confirmed, none other than The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake. This news comes from the eshop page for the game in Japan and other regions, which specifies that it supports “VRR for compatible TVs”. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake is a game that would greatly benefit from VRR support in docked mode, given the immense scale of the game.
