During the Q&A session, The Pokémon Company expressed their gratitude to Pokémon fans in Singapore. Over the last 10 years, the number of fans in Singapore have greatly increased, which enabled The Pokémon Company to increase the number of Pokémon events and activities in scale and quantity in Singapore.

The Pokémon Company also confirmed that Pokémon Winds and Waves, the upcoming mainline Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch 2, will not be making an appearance during the Pokémon 30th anniversary celebrations in Singapore.

Both Fukunaga and Nagano also answered several other questions, including their favorite Pokémon and their expectations for the 40th anniversary of the Pokémon series.

See below for the full Q&A transcript, edited and provided by NintendoSoup:

1. A Pokémon campaign was held at Changi Airport in 2016, and now there is another one taking place this year (2026). How do you feel about it? Also, is there anything special being planned for PokéSighting in Singapore?

Susumu Fukunaga: Our first event was held at Changi Airport in 2016. Since then, the number of Pokémon fans in Singapore have greatly increased. Over the last 10 years, we have gathered a lot of experience and increased our capabilities on what we can do. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone over the last 10 years, and we look forward to your participation in the upcoming events.

As for PokéSighting, one thing that is exclusive to Singapore is a PokéSighting Pikachu with blue hair that we showed off just now. Additionally, there is the Pokémon Parade (at Jewel Changi Airport), which will be the first event of its kind in Asia (excluding Japan).

2. What’s your favorite Pokémon? Is it Growlithe, or is it Magikarp?

Go Nagano: My favorite Pokémon is Pincer.

Susumu Fukunaga: My favorite Pokémon is Mew. The shirt I’m wearing today features Growlithe from an event in Okinawa. I will make a shirt featuring Mew in the future.

3. How do you feel about Pokémon’s growth in Singapore?

Go Nagano: Pokémon has great awareness in Singapore. The Singapore market has strong purchasing power. I hope Singapore will take the lead in driving growth in other markets.

Susumu Fukunaga: Compared to 10 years ago, the number of Pokémon fans in Singapore have increased by a lot. Thanks to everyone’s support, we are able to do many things.

4. Will Pokémon Winds and Waves appear in any of the upcoming Pokémon 30th Anniversary events?

Susumu Fukunaga: For the current Pokémon 30th Anniversary events shown today, there will be no connection to Pokémon Winds and Waves. Please look forward to future updates on Pokémon Winds and Waves.

5. How do you envision Pokémon’s 40th anniversary?

Susumu Fukunaga’s interpreter: He (Fukunaga) is of a certain age, so he might not be around for the 40th anniversary.

Go Nagano: We are not sure about the 40th or 50th anniversary. We are not focused on the 30th anniversary, but we are always looking for ways to create new experiences for Pokémon fans. For the 30th anniversary, we are focused on making new experiences for all fans.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
