In the last few weeks, vulnerability researcher Mike Heskin found the presence of code in Nintendo Switch piracy tool SX OS that bricks the console by anyone trying to crack it open.
Heskin has discovered that the brick code does more than just locking up the Nintendo Switch’s eMMC (internal storage). The researcher says he found that the code also attempts to corrupt boot partitions, and it’s also deployed on multiple stages across the boot chain.
This means that the chances of the brick code triggering by accident is way higher than anyone had ever thought. Piracy is just not worth it.
