Shocking news – THQ Nordic, a publisher and developer of multiple Nintendo Switch games, has kicked off an AMA on 8chan.
AMA, also known as Ask Me Anything, is an online event where a company or high profile individual takes questions from the public. It was popularized on Reddit.
While there’s nothing wrong about hosting AMAs, the gaming community has been shocked that THQ Nordic decided to hold an AMA on 8chan, a website known for child pornography. The publisher has even promoted their AMA on 8chan on Twitter, sparking outrage.

UPDATE: THQ Nordic remains defiant to public outrage:
“The opportunity was here and we took it, we got apporached in a very friendly and polite manner and were assured, said person (shoutout to Mark) will take care of the nasty stuff. so, here we are.”
UPDATE 2: THQ Nordic has put out an apology:
“I personally agreed to this AMA without doing my proper due diligence to understand the history and the controversy of the site. I do not condone child pornography, white supremacy, or racism in any shape or form. I am terribly sorry for the short-sightedness of my (!) decision, and promise to be far more vigorous in my assessment of these activities in the future.
This was not about being edgy, this blew up and I very much regret to have done it in the first place.” Philipp Brock, PR & Marketing Director THQ Nordic GmbH (Vienna, Austria)”
