Three More Cards From Pokemon TCG ‘Unbroken Bonds’ Expansion Detailed, With Animated Foil Versions

The Pokemon Company is back with a new preview of the latest Pokemon TCG series!

Card game fans can now check out more details on the Pheromosa & Buzzwole-GX, Celesteela-GX, and Beast Bringer cards below. Additionally, The Pokemon Company released fantastic holographic animations of all three – which simulate their foiled look.

Pheromosa & Buzzwole-GX

TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX are an exciting addition to the Pokémon TCG, and Pheromosa and Buzzwole are the first Ultra Beasts to be featured on one of these devastating cards. The pair’s Elegant Sole attack hits for a staggering 190 damage, but they can’t keep that up—when you use the attack, its base damage drops to 60 during your next turn.

Your opponent had better watch out for the Beast Game-GX attack. The 50 damage it inflicts isn’t the real threat here. Instead, it’s the extra Prize card you take when Knocking Out your opponent’s Pokémon that makes this attack worthwhile. And as we saw in Sun & Moon—Team Up, each TAG TEAM gets a special “team bonus” to its GXattack if it has enough extra Energy attached. In this case, if you can attach 7 extra Energy (of any type) to Pheromosa & Buzzwole-GX, the GX attack lets you take 3 more Prize cards instead! If you can Knock Out an opponent’s TAG TEAM with Beast Game-GX, you’ll win instantly!

Celesteela-GX

Celesteela-GX is another Ultra Beast that makes an appearance in the Sun & Moon—Unbroken Bonds expansion, and its Force Canceler Ability will really come in handy when you’re facing off against another Pokémon-GX. As long as Celesteela-GX is your Active Pokémon, this Ability prevents all effects (including damage) from an opponent’s GX attack done to all of your Pokémon.

Like Pheromosa & Buzzwole-GX, Celesteela-GX has a GX attack that lets you manipulate Prize cards. With Discovery-GX, you can take all of your Prize cards, put them into your hand, and replace them with cards from the top of your deck. Sure, it may not immediately put you closer to victory, but if you know that a much-needed card is trapped in your Prize cards, this is an easy way to bring it into play.

Beast Bringer

If you’re playing an Ultra Beast in your deck, it would probably be a good idea to have a few Beast Bringer cards in there, as well. When this Pokémon Tool is attached to an Ultra Beast, you can take an extra Prize card if you Knock Out an opponent’s Active Pokémon-GX or Pokémon-EX with damage from that Ultra Beast’s attack. Just be aware that the card’s effect requires you to have exactly 6 Prize cards remaining, so you’ll want to use it early in a match. This card could be especially useful for boosting the effectiveness of Pheromosa & Buzzwole-GX‘s Beast Game-GX attack.

You can also check out the cards without their holographic animations over here. The three cards will be part of the ‘Unbroken Bonds‘ expansion, which launches globally on 3 May 2019.

We’ll report back when we hear more.
