Strictly Limited Games has recently confirmed that they will be releasing Ultracore for the Nintendo Switch.
Originally developed for the Sega Genesis by DICE under the name “Hardcore“, this 2D action platformer was supposed to come out in 1994/5. However, the project was scrapped just before completion in favor of focusing on the next console generation. Since then it was thought to be lost to time, but the prototype was eventually recovered and finished by Strictly Limited as “Ultracore“.
While the game does not have a set release date, pre-orders for the Switch version will open on 28 April and run till June 30. A limited collector’s edition is also planned, with more information available on Strictly Limited’s website.
