Video: Super Mario Bros. Movie Extended Cut Featuring Spike & Iggy

Youtube channel SMB Movie has published the third extended rough cut from the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie.

In the cut Spike & Iggy showcase a revolutionary anti-Koopa rap, which was believed to have been cut due to the provocative go-go dancers. There are also a couple more deleted scenes included in the video, showcasing the “democracy” in the Koopa kingdom.

Watch below:

The video showcases a revolutionary anti-Koopa rap by Spike & Iggy. The song was written by Richard Edson (Spike), a founding member of Sonic Youth. Co-director Rocky Morton planned to use Sonic Youth for the film’s score, but was overruled by Disney in favor of the jauntier Alan Silvestri score.

The scene was likely cut due to focus on provocative go-go dancers.

The video also includes three more deleted scenes that provide additional political commentary on Koopa’s “democracy.”
