Nintendo has launched a firmware update for the WiiU, the predecessor to their smash hit hybrid console the Nintendo Switch.
This is notably the first firmware update released for the WiiU since September 2018, and brings it up to Version 5.5.5 U. According to Nintendo’s official patchnotes, the update primarily includes “improvements to overall system stability”.

- Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
According to well-known dataminer OatmealDome, it appears that the only adjustment was some changes to the system’s SSL code. At the time of this writing, it is not known what Nintendo chose to push this update for the WiiU so long after the console was effectively retired.
