As with all retro video games, the ultimate end game is not when your pennies run out but when you finally kicked your rival off the high score throne and coronate yourself.
That is especially so for Robbie Lakeman and Wes Copeland, both of them had been exchanging blows with each other in the game Donkey Kong, breaking the world record score each time they do it. Thus, Lakeman is the world record holder for the highest score in Donkey Kong once again. With a score of 1,230,100, he clearly smashed Copeland’s record of 218,000 by a clear as day margin. Copeland had previously wrestled over the world record from Lakeman in May 2016.
With the new bar set so high, we wonder if Copeland is just going leave Lakeman to bask in his achievements or come back with a vengeance. It will definitely be something worth watching nonetheless.
