Rex, the protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, was trending on Twitter in Japan on November 1, the day of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct.
On November 1 and November 2, Super Smash Bros. was the No. 1 trending topic in Japan (143,421 tweets), followed by Rex at No. 2 (11,401). The reason behind Rex’s popularity is because Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fans were elated to see Rex adapted into a Mii Swordfighter costume for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Here are some of the tweets:
“Looking forward (to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Rex costume!)”
“As one would expect for a game that has sold 1.53 million copies. The vigor of those who want to see Rex and Pyra as fighters in Smash Bros. has increased”
“Rex… please bring me (Pyra) to Smash Bros. too!”
