Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Tops UK Boxed Charts For The Year, Biggest Series Launch Of All Time

The GFK has published their list of bestselling games in the UK for the week ending in May 12th, giving us our first sales data for The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom.

According to GFK’s data, The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom not only topped the UK boxed charts last week, but it is also now the biggest boxed game launch of the year, a whopping 50% higher than previous holder Hogwarts Legacy. Unsurprisingly, it is also the biggest Zelda launch in history for the region, outdoing its predecessor and previous record holder Breath Of The Wild 2.7 times over.

Other interesting statistics include the following:

• Second biggest Nintendo launch in the UK by revenue, beat out only by the Wii Fit + Balance Board
• Fourth biggest Nintendo launch in UK by unit sales, behind Pokemon Sun/Moon, Scarlet/Violet, and the Wii Fit + Balance Board
• Unit sales were 12% lower than Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, but revenue was 8% higher due to the game’s increased price point
• Tears Of The Kingdom boosted sales of Breath Of The Wild by 31%, allowing the latter to break into the Top 10 for the week again
