An interesting observation has been made on the list of top 10 bestselling Nintendo Switch games as of June 30, 2018.
Wii U games which have made the move to Nintendo Switch with some to no changes make up 30% of the list. That’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
This should be taken positively given how all three games have sold better on Switch over Wii U. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch) moved 10.35 million copies versus Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)’s 8.42 million, and the Wii U counterparts of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze aren’t even on their top 10 list.
Keep in mind we aren’t taking into account titles that stand as completely new games on their own feet even if they heavily feature assets and mechanics from previous Wii U titles (eg. Splatoon 2, Mario Tennis Aces).
