Fans of Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles may be familiar with their original Xenosaga series – developed long before the studio exchanged hands between Bandai Namco and Nintendo. Many fans have since been begging the IP holder Bandai Namco to remaster or re-release the series. Sadly, however, it looks like their pleas will remain unanswered.
Bandai Namco original IP game projects general manager Katsuhiro Harada confirmed in a recent tweet that there were originally plans for a series remaster or HD collection, but the company ultimately shot it down as it was not deemed profitable.
At this point, the only surviving remnant of the Xenosaga series is really its mascot, KOS-MOS – who appears as an optional character in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Sadly, it looks like devoted fans will just have to stick with the original PS2 copies out there to enjoy the series.
