Back in March, many Nintendo Switch owners were furious with Nyko after their consoles were bricked (couldn’t turn on) from using Nyko’s third party portable Switch dock.
The problems started to occur after Nintendo released the infamous version 5.0.0 update, which rendered some unlicensed accessories useless. Nintendo has recommended users to stay away from unofficial accessories in order to avoid problems.
Michael Skiathitis, an American who purchased a Nyko dock in March, filed a class action lawsuit against Nyko for failing to properly inform their customers about the defect. As the dock messed up his Nintendo Switch, he had to send it to Nintendo for repair, and probably lose all of his save data in the process.
The lawsuit says “unbeknownst to consumers, the Nyko Portable Docking Kits for Nintendo Switch are prone to causing numerous problems to the devices that they are intended to support”.
