Following its initial announcement last year, we now have a new update on upcoming Console Wars TV Series.
In case you need a refresher, this new TV series is an adaptation of the book “Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation” by Blake J. Harris. As the title suggests, the popular novel gives gamers a behind-the-scenes look at the rivalry between Sega and Nintendo back in the 1990s.
Today, we have some new details about the project. As reported by Deadline, CBS All-Access will be picking up the project and creating two separate adaptations.
The first is a feature length documentary, which will be directed by author Blake J. Harris and Jonah Tulis (Such Great Heights), and executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
The other is the previously announced limited TV-Series, and will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) and written by Mike Rosolio (American Vandal). The limited TV-Series will of course air on CBS All-Access, but it is currently not clear how the documentary will be distributed.
As the Console Wars make up a big part of gaming history, both these new takes on the saga should prove quite interesting. We will be sure to bring more details about the release dates and more as they come.
