A few months back, Nintendo announced a sequel to the Super Mario Bros. Movie, planned to premier in 2026.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Mario’s movie voice actor Chris Pratt shared his thoughts on the future of the film series. Pratt expects that we will see a lot more Mario and Nintendo movies in the next decade, although he couldn’t share any details beyond that.
“It gets me very excited thinking about the world of Mario and Nintendo in general, I think over the next decade we will be seeing lots of stories coming out of that world. I was thrilled, honored, and blessed to be part of the first one and moving forward I’m open to doing as much and as little as they want from me. I can’t say much but I am just as excited as everyone else.”
Nintendo and Hollywood would no doubt be interested in working on more videogame film adaptations, especially given that the first Super Mario Bros. Movie was the most profitable film of 2023. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
