A Japanese father, whose wife and daughter are playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the system, has described a potential conflict that is going to occur on the island they live in.
Twitter user Konbuwasabi says both his wife and daughter have very different worldviews in how they want to shape their island. Konubuwasabi’s daughter wants the island to be a place where “no one is allowed to hurt the sacred tree at the center of the island”. She follows this as diligently as a religion.
Meanwhile, his wife laments that “the sacred tree is blocking my construction work”. Konbuwasabi says that a confrontation is brewing between the Shinto shrine and construction company in the game.
At the end of the day, crisis was averted – Konuwasabi’s wife and daughter agreed to move the sacred tree to a cliff separated from the residential area, and the costs of moving the tree, houses, and a new Shinto shrine will be covered by his wife.
