It appears that discontent over My Nintendo Store Japan’s Nintendo Switch 2 lotteries has been rising on social media.
Japanese industry watcher Meikou Kawamura wrote on Yahoo! Japan News his observations after the fifth lottery results were announced earlier this week. According to Kawamura, discontent over the lottery has been rising on social media, as those who lost the lottery have been asking, “why me?”.
He noted that the number of people making angry remarks and complaints over the lottery have swelled this week. It appears that expectations increased after Nintendo tightened requirements to participate in the lottery, which unfortunately did not deliver the results that people wanted. The discontent over the results are natural, considering that there are people who have lost the My Nintendo Store lotteries five times in a row.
It’s estimated that only 30% of applicants managed to purchase a Switch 2 from the fifth lottery, so Nintendo still has a long way to go to meet the high demand in the Japanese market.
