Dragon Quest XI Uses Unreal Engine 4 On Nintendo Switch

During Unreal Fest East 2017, Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii revealed on stage that Dragon Quest XI will make use of Unreal Engine 4 on Nintendo Switch.

Dragon Quest XI was released on Nintendo 3DS and PS4 in late July in Japan, and became a million best seller within days. With the revelation that the Switch port is developed with Unreal Engine 4, it means the Switch version of the game is based on the PS4 version of the game.

This would also lend credence to rumors of the problems that are affecting the Switch version’s development, as Dragon Quest XI on PS4 uses Unreal Engine 4.13 while the Switch uses Unreal Engine 4.15.
