Earlier this week, a small accident occurred over at Super Nintendo World, one that seems almost like something straight out of the games its based on.
As reported by Asahi Shumbun Digital, on Monday 9th August, a statue depicting a stack of Goombas fell off a ledge and onto part of the Yoshi’s Adventure Ride. Luckily, area where they fell was not accessible to guests, meaning that nobody was hurt by the accident. Nevertheless, the park decided to suspend “some attractions” until the next day in order to investigate the incident and run safety checks.
You can watch a clip of the park staff clearing away the Goombas below:
At the time of this writing, it is not known exactly what caused the Goombas to fall over, although Asahi Shumbun speculates that it could be because Typhoon Lupit was due to approach the area where Universal Studios Japan is located, as part of the annual typhoon season.
