During the investor Q&A session on May 8, 2025, an investor asked about the Nintendo Switch 2, saying that it doesn’t feel like “something revolutionary” even though its a new generation.
Nintendo prsident Shuntaro Furukawa answered that the company started officially working on Nintendo Switch 2 around 2019, and in order to allow software developers to offer new game experiences, the Switch 2’s hardware performance had to be significantly improved.
This increased performance has made possible games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, new games that”cannot be run on Nintendo Switch”.
The company has also started making accessories from scratch, and Furukawa feels that the Nintendo Switch 2, along with its accessories, are “very Nintendo-like”. Nintendo will endeavor to making Nintendo Switch 2 the “new standard of Nintendo Switch” and offer customers new and innovative game experiences and hardware.
