In the United Kingdom, the Nintendo Switch has done fairly well, but not as well as other markets.
According to GameIndustry, retail reports show the console has moved over 700,000 units since its launch in March 2017. Over 1 million copies of its 3 biggest games combined were sold – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Similar to other countries, the Switch has outsold the Wii U in the UK in the span of 11 months. Other than that, it hasn’t become the fastest selling console in the UK (that spot is still occupied by Wii), unlike what happened in the US and France.
As to why the Switch is performing less than expected, analysts say the UK was historically much more competitive for Nintendo, as PS4 and Xbox One are stronger in the UK as compared to other European countries. They also added it wouldn’t be surprising if Nintendo Labo helps to boost sales for the system.
