Last year, Nintendo announced the cast of Illumination’s upcoming animated Super Mario movie, which left many fans being split on the choices for the roles, particularly the casting of Chris Pratt as Mario.
Inspired by the announcement, animator Kevin Temmer Tunes decided to create a fan-animation of Mario saying one of Pratt’s classic lines from The LEGO Movie, in which he voiced the main character Emmett. As explained in the video, the animation was created using “Mario Bros Rig”, a tool for animation 3D software Autodesk Maya.
As an added bonus, Kevin Temmer Tunes also made an animation for Charlie Day as Luigi, using lines from the actor’s role on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Although both videos are obviously meant as jokes, the animation likely depicts what most fans are imagining Pratt will sound like as Mario, as an official trailer showing off the actor’s fabled “Mario Voice” has yet to be released. We will be sure to report back with more details about the movie as they come.
