Metroid Dread Had The Highest Launch Month Sales Of Any Metroid Game To Date In The US

NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella has shared some exciting news about the Metroid Dread‘s performance last month in the United States.

According to NPD Group’s data, Metroid Dread was the 3rd best selling game in the US for October, and the number 1 best selling game on Switch. Unsurprisingly, this also means that Metroid Dread achieved “the highest launch month sales of any Metroid franchise release in tracked history”. In addition, Piscatella also revealed that Metroid Dread‘s physical dollar sales were three times that of the franchise’s previous best-selling game Metroid Prime.

This, along with similarly strong performance in the UK and Japan, suggests that Metroid Dread has proved to be a success for Nintendo as well as the Metroid series at large. Hopefully its enough to pull the series out of the lull its been experiencing and back into the spotlight as one of Nintendo’s flagship franchises.
