Christopher Dring, head of GameIndustry.biz, has revealed some new details about the sales performance of Metroid Dread in the UK.
According to the latest data from GfK, Metroid Dread has now become the best selling 2D Metroid game of all time in the UK, and the third best-selling Metroid game overall in the region behind Metroid Prime and Prime 3. However, these figures do not include digital sales, leading Dring to speculate that it could already be the best selling Metroid game overall in the region, if digital sales were included.
This is of course a great achievement for Mercurysteam and Nintendo, given that the Metroid franchise has been struggling to find success in recent years. Hopefully, the series will be able to carry this momentum moving forward with Metroid Prime 4 and whatever other Metroid games that might be in development behind the scenes.
