Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Physical Switch Release Will Not Include Mortal Kombat 4 On Cart

Some unfortunate news for players picking up the physical version of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection on Switch and Switch 2.

Publisher Digital Eclipse has confirmed that the collection will not include Mortal Kombat 4 on the cart, and will need to be accessed through an additional download. Digital Eclipse has stated that this is because Mortal Kombat 4 was not ready in time to be included on the Switch cart, as Switch games are required to be submitted for production very far ahead of release. However, the game is present on disc for other versions of the title.

MK4 did not make it to the Switch cart in time for physical release. The Switch build had to be submitted for production far in advance of the release date, and MK4 was just not ready. All other platforms have MK4 included.

It is downloadable with the day 1 patch. It just did not make it on the physical cart before we had to send it in to manufacture.

Digital Eclipse’s confirmation has led to outcry among fans, as the publisher had previously reported that all the games were included on the cart, Digital Eclipse claims that this was due to “internal miscommunication”, and that his caveat is now reflected accurately on all official channels advertising the Switch version.

Atari Website: Nintendo Switch Users – In order to fully enjoy Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection we encourage you to connect your Switch console to the Nintendo store and download our post release patches, which add additional content, including MK4, and performance improvements.”
