Although July is coming to an end, many are still speculating that a Nintendo Direct will take place this week, thanks to a newly-scheduled maintenance for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch network services.
According to Nintendo’s official website, network services will be down for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch from July 31 3pm to 4:30pm Japan time for the purpose of “acquiring stage data”. During the maintenance, it will not be possible to access online services, such as the Nintendo eShop.
This has led some to speculate that the maintenance is being conducted in preparation for a Nintendo Direct this week. We would also like to point out that industry insider NatetheHate has not retracted his claims of a Nintendo Direct happening in July 2025.
Besides the network maintenance, a one-hour long maintenance will take place on My Nintendo Store in Japan from 11am to 12pm Japan time on July 31, though that maintenance most likely has something to do with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 lottery results announcement happening on the same day.
