Nintendo CEO Says There Are No Plans To Announce New Hardware At E3 2019

During Nintendo’s most recent financial results briefing, Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa said that the company has no plans to announce any new hardware at E3 2019 (Jun 12 -14).

Furukawa’s statement comes amidst a slew of rumors that Nintendo is working on new models of the Switch for release this year. With regards to plans for new hardware in general however, Furukawa did say that they are “always working on developing hardware internally” and they will “announce it when they are able to sell it”.

While these comments neither confirm nor deny that a new Switch model is being developed, the fact that no announcement is planned for E3 does make it a bit more unlikely that it will be launched this year. The timing of this year’s E3 would make it the most logical time to reveal such a product, and its hard to see when else they would announce it if it was coming in 2019.

What do you think? Do Furukawa’s comments mean that a new Switch model won’t be coming this year? Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks Brandon for the tip.
