Nintendo has put out a Nintendo Switch software compatibility page on the Nintendo Switch 2 website, detailing the type of software that is supported on the system.
As of April 2, 2025, the company has tested about 27% of all third party games (over 15,000 titles) released on Nintendo Switch on Nintendo Switch 2. Out of the 27%, the vast majority have no issues running on Switch 2, but a small minority have issues.
141 third-party titles have issues during compatibility testing, while 50 titles have issues during certain parts of gameplay. Nintendo is currently working with these third-party developers to figure out a solution to get the game fully running on Switch 2.
As for Nintendo’s own titles, the vast majority can run without any issues on Switch 2. Some titles, like 1-2 Switch, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Ring Fit Adventure, can be played if you have the original Joy-Con.
