Nintendo Says They Have No Plans To Release Another Switch Revision This Year

With the release of the Switch Lite, some have been wondering whether this also means that we could be getting a “Switch Pro”, as per the original rumors about Switch revisions suggested.

According to Nintendo’s Doug Bowser, if there is a “Switch Pro” on the way, there aren’t any plans to release it this year. Speaking to CNET, Bowser said that the company has no plans to release any more new hardware this holiday, least of all an upgrade to the original Switch.

…The Lite isn’t a sequel to the Switch. It’s more of a lower-cost spin-off. It’ll also be the only new Nintendo Switch hardware this holiday, as Bowser says the larger Switch won’t get an upgrade right now.

Of course, just because Bowser says that the original Switch “won’t get an upgrade right now” doesn’t mean that it won’t get one further down the line. After all, Nintendo recently filed for permission from the FCC to “modify the internals of the original Nintendo Switch“, specifically its memory and processor. It would be extremely odd for them to do this if they weren’t preparing for an upgrade to the original Switch, so perhaps its coming a lot sooner than Nintendo wants everyone to think.
