Nintendo Sues Japanese Mobile Company For 40 Million Dollars

Nintendo has launched a lawsuit against Japanese mobile company Colopl for violating five of its patents.

According to Nintendo, one of the patents Colopl has violated is using a touch panel to manipulate a joystick. Nintendo claims this has been infringed by Colopl in their smartphone game called White Cat Project, a popular action RPG downloaded over 5 million times.

Nintendo is now seeking 44 billion yen (USD40 million) in compensation from Colopl.

UPDATE: Corrected White Cat Project’s genre.
